WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Former Walla Walla County Undersheriff, Carole Lepiane, is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Spokane this Thursday. According to online court records, she is planning on changing her plea.
In September, Lepiane pleaded innocent to charges she stole money from Walla Walla County at least 50 times between February of 2004 and June of 2009.
Lepiane is accused of taking bail money posted for jail inmates, putting it in a personal bank account, and spending it on online shopping.
She is also accused of using incoming checks from an inmate phone system company, Evercom, to cover up the money she was taking.
Lepiane worked as the Walla Walla County Undersheriff from 1998 to 2009.
