WALLA WALLA/YAKIMA, Wash. - Project Appleseed is headed to our region, and your time to register is now. The project is an opportunity to learn traditional rifle marksmanship, and the role it has played in the founding of America.
The all volunteer, non profit organization, the Revolutionary War Veterans Association, puts on the event. They offer safe, low-cost, hands-on activities that require no special rifles or equipment.
Children can learn safe firearm handling and the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship, while adults can improve and refine marksmanship skills. Participants can learn how to shoot rifles from prone, sitting, and standing positions, participants will also learn how civilian marksmanship played a pivotal role in the founding of our nation.
All experience levels are welcome, and instructors are also offering an adaptive program to accommodate those with disabilities.
The event is happening in both Walla Walla and Yakima simultaneously on October 20-21, from 8:30 AM to 5 PM both days.
The event in Walla Walla will be at the Waitsburg Gun Club on 85 Bramleit Road. The event for Yakima will be at the Sun Valley Shooting Park on 1452 Suntargets Road in Moxee.
Registration fees are as follows: FREE for Active Duty Military, Guard, and Reserve FREE for peace officers, elected officials and individuals with disabilities $5.00 for youth (under 21) $10.00 for women $70.00 for all others. Additional range fees are not required for this event. Participants must supply their own rifles and ammunition.
