YAKIMA, Wash.-- A Yakima non-profit that gives therapeutic horseback rides to people with disabilities received a big donation Monday.
Safeway employees donated a total of $66,000 to "The Pegasus Project".
The check was presented at the Safeway on Nob Hill Boulevard in Yakima Monday morning.
All the money came from employees who donated a portion of their paychecks.
The non-profit's founder says the money will help a lot of people.
"They are helping, not only today with scholarships and helping us finish our sensory trail, but it also means that they've helped us build an endowment fund to keep supporting the ranch for the future," said Janie Plath.
The money was collected at Safeway's across our region, from Cle-Elum to Milton-Freewater.
They say 95% of the employees made donations.
