NEAR TAMPICO, Wash.-- Two men are dead after a car accident in the Ahtanum State Forest, outside of Yakima.
The accident happened sometime between 8pm Thursday night, and 6am Friday on a dirt road about four miles off North Fork Road, outside of Tampico.
The Washington State Patrol says 20-year-old Samuel Amaral of Yakima was driving when he lost control of his Jeep. The car fell almost 500 feet down the mountain, killing Amaral and another 20-year-old man from Canyon County, California.
Because of where the Jeep came to a stop, rescue crews from several different agencies were forced to repel down to retrieve the bodies.
The State Patrol is not sure why the Jeep left the road, but they are still investigating.
