KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Washington State Department of Health says now is the time to get your flu vaccination. They're available at most pharmacies or the Health Department.
Everyone six months of age and older is encouraged to get the shot. This year's flu vaccine protects against three different strains of the virus.
Benton Franklin Public Health reminds everyone that getting the shot early is the best way to protect yourself in the coming months.
"You need to have your shot on board so your body responds to it so you have the best protection when flu season arrives," said public health nurse Heather Hill.
Health officials are encouraging health care workers to make sure they're vaccinated in order to protect themselves from the virus along with the patients they work with. They're also making an effort to ensure the elderly population gets the vaccine, as well.
