YAKIMA, Wash.-- Walmart stores in Yakima delivered supplies from our NBC Right Now Walmart Back To School Supply Drive today.
The Yakima stores collected more than four thousand dollars worth of supplies.
Those items went to the Yakima, West Valley, and East Valley School Districts.
Overall, we collected a total of more than $26,000 worth of supplies across our region.
Schools say it's important for kids to have something new to take to school.
"The supplies that are here. I looked at those little notebooks with the cute pictures of dogs and that's amazing for kids to have something new, something that works well, something that looks like... Exactly like their friends," says Yakima School District Superintendent Elaine Beraza.
The Yakima School District says this supply drive is especially important because they saw fewer donations this year.
