RICHLAND, Wash. - More than $25,000 in proceeds from our KNDU/KNDO Walmart
Back to School Supply Drive are now headed to classrooms throughout the region.
Friday morning, employees from the Walmarts in the Tri-Cities gave nearly $9,000 worth of school supplies to the Kennewick, Richland and Pasco School Districts.
"We're so excited to be able to give kids the things that they need," says Lorraine Cooper of the Kennewick School District, "to make them feel really comfortable and get a really great start to their school year."
"Walmart enjoys helping in our local communities," Jenny Voyles, the Richland Walmart Store Manager says, "anything we can do to help people that live next door to us is always great."
All the donations do stay local. Overall, the drive raised more than $27,000 in school supplies at Walmart stores from Yakima to LaGrande.
