A Yakima Valley teacher has won the Washington Teacher of the Year Award.
Jeffrey Charbonneau from Zillah High School was honored with the award Monday in Seattle.
Charbonneau is a science teacher. He has raised the popularity of science classes at the school and expanded STEM learning opportunities.
Each of this year's nine finalists won the Regional Teacher of the Year Award in their school district.
Brian Sites from Richland's River's Edge High School was also a finalist.
