YAKIMA, Wash.-- Some good news tonight about the Humane Society of Central Washington and their campaign to win a $100,000 grant.
Right now, they're one of the top ten contestants in a national competition to save as many animals as possible.
They're currently in ninth place with more than 500 lives saved. Volunteers say it wouldn't be possible without the generosity of the Yakima community.
"Overwhelming. We're really excited to be in the top ten and we also know that we have a lot more work to do and so we're hoping that the community will come out," says Erica Seaver-Engel with the Humane Society.
The Humane Society is holding an adoption event this week called the "Halftime Show".
Adoption fees will be $5 for cats and $30 for dogs. It's starts at ten am on Saturday, and continues until four pm in Sherman Park.
