PASCO, Wash. - The Franklin County Historical Society is now in phase two of the museum's expansion: the demolition phase.
As part of phase on, the society bought the strip of land behind the museum in Pasco. Monday morning, Ray Poland & Sons began demolishing the three unoccupied houses on the property.
The museum staff says the houses were historically insignificant, but the space was crucial to the expansion.
Sherel Webb, an Administrator for the Franklin County Historical Society and Museum, says, "It's just something we never thought was possible and here it is, and we're going to be able to expand the museum and better not only ourselves, but downtown Pasco."
The project's next step after cleaning up the demolished land, will mainly be raising money and planning the layout of the new expansion.
