Waitts Lake is another one of the gems located near Spokane that offer good fishing and great atmosphere.

Located in southern Stevens County, the lake was stocked with 15,000 rainbow trout. It also has brown trout, yellow perch and bass. There are a lot of small fish available, but keep in mind the state record for rainbow trout came from Waitts Lake. The fish weight more than 25 pounds, so it goes to show the fish can grow there.

The water temperature when I was there was about 70 degrees, and the trout were hanging out about 20 feet below the surface.

If you want to take a break from fishing, you can water ski or swim at the lake. There are also cabins for rent if you want to spend the night.
