CLE ELUM, Wash.-- Nearly 800 firefighters from across the state are battling the blaze near Cle Elum.
However, all those people need a place to sleep. That's why a large village of tents and campers has sprung up around Cle Elum-Roslyn Middle School. Crews say it takes them only a few hours to get the basics set up in these camps, but it does take them several days to get all parts of the camp up and running.
"I equate it to a small city... We drop into an area... We set up a small city, we provide security, garbage, water, sewer..." says Logistics Section Chief Dennis Mason.
Mason says it's especially important to get everything up and running quickly so firefighters coming off a 12-hour shift can rest.
