WSP cruiser hits and kills man in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -A Washington State Patrol officer struck and killed a pedestrian Tuesday night.

WSP says the trooper hit the 26-year old man with his cruiser on theInterstate 5 off-ramp at Mount Vernon.

The man died at the scene.

A WSP spokesman says the trooper wasn't hurt but shaken up. The spokesman says the trooper is on leave while the WSP and Mount Vernon police investigate.
