KENNEWICK, Wash. - The US gymnastics team has performed well at the London Olympics and here in the Tri-Cities the Summer Games have piqued interest in the sport. Angie Jefferson of All-American Gymnastics says her phone hasn't stopped ringing since the Olympics started. Jefferson says it doesn't matter if Team USA performs well, she generally sees an enrollment increase every four years.
"I would say it's probably the same either way, they really like watching gymnastics on the TV, regardless of what country they are from," said Angie Jefferson. "I would say it's more fun for the athletes that are already in gymnastics to watch the US win gold."
16 is the youngest age girls can compete in Olympic Gymnastics, but All-American Gymnastics has programs for children starting from 18 months old.
