YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima's new Downtown Business Improvement District will meet with the city council tomorrow to talk about how well the organization is doing their job.
The district takes care of things like graffiti removal and maintaining plants and landscaping in the downtown area.
Those services stopped for several months when business owners closed the original district last year because they felt their concerns weren't being addressed.
Now that it's back, Yakima's Mayor says he sees a big difference.
"It's nice for us to be out... You know... Strolling the streets and seeing trash picked up and flowers blossoming and things that were kind of in a lag because of the transition with the district earlier this year," says Yakima Mayor Micah Cawley.
The organization is contracting with Block by Block for those services. They say they've cleaned up hundreds of graffiti spots since they started.
