KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The Water Follies wrapped up with a fantastic finish on Sunday and Monday, organizers are evaluating the big weekend.
Water follies went off without a hitch this year and numbers were strong with around sixty-five thousand people attending the event. Some of the features that enhanced the event this year and boosted attendance were more interactive activities like helicopter rides and laser tag. Also there were a few more hydroplanes this year and each year they change up the HAPO Over The River Air Show.
Kennewick ticket sales for Columbia Park where down a bit from last year, but on the Pasco side, ticket sales were up.
Event Director, Kathy Powell, says many find the calmer atmosphere there, more appealing.
"Pasco grows every year so even though it was maybe a little less on the Kennewick side it was a little more on the Pasco side. So folks are still coming down enjoying the day and that's good for us," says Powell.
The Water Follies office says they're getting lots of good feedback from people and posts on their facebook page. Organizers say people are already calling in to reserve hospitality tents for next year.
The planning for next year's event will start up again soon. Next month they'll begin setting up the air show.
