Yakima, WASH.--The first visible work on Memorial Hospital's "30-year Campus Master Plan" will start on Monday.
The hospital will begin road construction at the intersection of Walnut and South 28th avenues.
Construction crews will upgrade a water main system and install barriers to make the hospital a closed campus.
Memorial Vice President, Jim Aberle said neighborhood traffic has been a problem for a long time, and re-routing hospital traffic will fix that.
"We were working on that for 5 or 6 years by the time it finally got approved," said Aberle. "It's been a work in progress, and it serves the neighbors and the hospital well."
The construction is expected to last 4-5 weeks. During that time, drivers can enter the hospital campus from Tieton Drive.
