YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Yakima County Veterans Program needs your help to help local vets.
The program helps many of the 16,000 veterans in Yakima County with food, housing needs, and help to find work.
So far this year, the program has helped around 50 more veterans and their families than they did at this point last year.
The coordinator says they're seeing a strong need for housing this year.
"In addition to providing what the county provides through the veterans relief fund, we've had other assistance, that money's run out. So a concern is the rest of this half of the year will be the shortfall," said Dave Brown, Yakima County Veteran's Coordinator.
Brown says the money helps in many ways, by stopping evictions, and assisting in getting homeless veterans a place to live.
