Groups promote voter registration before Monday's primary deadline
PASCO, Wash.-- This Monday is the deadline to register to vote in Washington's primary election on August 7th.
Saturday the League of Women Voters of Benton and Franklin Counties and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce came together to promote voter registration at the Pasco Farmer's Market.
Marilyn Perkins from the League of Women Voters handed out registration forms and encouraged people to inform themselves about the candidates.
"If it's accessible and we even reach a few people, to us it's worth it. We're trying to promotAe the idea that the primary is important and people need to try and get informed and really know about the candidates," says Perkins.
Perkins tells people to go online to learn more about the candidates and voting process. She recommends visiting the Washington Secretary of State website and www.vote411.org.
