Spokane, Wash. - After failing to hit a single home run in 148 at-bats for South Bend to start 2012, Josh Parr has been doing his best Hank Aaron impression since joining Yakima in June. The Bears shortstop belted a home run off Alec Asher (0-1) in the 8th inning, breaking up a scoreless tie as Spokane fell to Yakima 5-0 in front of 3,523 fans at Avista Stadium for Ladies Night presented by Twisted Tea and NOW 105.7 FM.

Parr's home run was his league-leading sixth, including three against Spokane in just five games. Shaun Cooper followed Parr's blast with one of his own, and the Bears scored once more in the eighth and twice in the ninth to blow open what had been a pitchers' duel through seven innings.

Spokane starter Eric Brooks was exceptional for four frames, holding Yakima scoreless on just two hits as part of his best outing of the season. Reliever Richard Alvarez kept the shutout intact with 2.2 scoreless frames, but after getting the last out of the seventh inning, the formerly untouchable Asher would not be so fortunate, allowing five earned runs in his appearance.

Yakima's Blake Perry took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Gabriel Roa picked up the Indians lone hit with a two-out bloop single. Victor Capellan (2-0) struck out five in two innings for the win.

Tomorrow is the final game of a three game series against the Yakima Bears and is a Yoke's $1 Family Feast Night presented by Yoke's Fresh Market & 92.9 ZZU. Join us at the ballpark as all hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches and Pepsi products are only $1.00 all night long! The game will be followed by the second Park University Post-Game Movie of the season on the Hall-of-Fame Plaza. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for all Spokane Indians home games are available for purchase at the Indians Ticket Office or at spokaneindians.com.
