Running for Camp Patriot

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash.- About 400 runners honored veterans on Independence Day by taking part in the Camp Patriot Fun Run.

Several runners wore 100-pound backpacks as they ran the 5K course.

Camp Patriot is a local organization that takes disabled veterans on outdoor adventures.

"It's really about relationships," says Camp Patriot member Micah Clark. "Through these adventures and relationships, we're really helping the full recovery process, whether it's physical or mental."

Later this month Camp Patriot will take several veterans on a climb up to the summit of Mount Rainier.
