YAKIMA, Wash. - UPDATE: Crews with the City of Yakima and Cascade Natural Gas have capped a natural gas leak in Yakima. The leak started just after 7:00 am Monday in the area of 19th Avenue and Tieton Drive near Franklin Park. Students in summer school at Franklin Middle School and residents along 19th Avenue were evacuated as a safety precaution, but have been let back in to their homes and school. Parts of Tieton Drive and 19th Avenue are now back open after crews closed them down to work on the broken line. No word on what caused the leak.
