Southridge welcomes another restaurant to growing area
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick's Southridge area continues to grow. The latest arrival, a Japanese restaurant.
Fujiyama Japanese steakhouse celebrated their grand opening Tuesday afternoon.
Officials from the City of Kennewick and the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce joined some hungry lunchtime customers to celebrate the new location.
While new to the Tri-Cities, the company already has two other restaurants on the west side of the state.
Fujiyama's regional manager Nick Serder says the decision to cross the cascades and set up here was influenced by locals, "One of my first experiences in town was, I go to Starbucks, and the first Starbucks I went to over here, I think four people talked to me in line, which is not entirely common on the other side. So I think I was very pleased to know this was a great community to be a part of."
Serder adds they're considering a plan to build another restaurant somewhere in the Tri-Cities at a future date.
The restaurant is also bringing new jobs. So far, around 20 jobs have already been filled, and they're looking to hire at least ten more people.
If you're interested in applying, just stop by the restaurant.
