YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima Police looking for a man involved in a shooting at the 5th Avenue Safeway yesterday.
Police say they don't have his name yet, but they do have a picture. Officers say the man met with 25-year-old Jaime Partida yesterday about a dispute over a cellphone.
After a brief argument, the man pulled out a handgun and shot Partida in the chest and arm. A nearby shopper pulled out his own gun and told the shooter to drop his weapon, but the suspect got in a car and left. Police say the shopper did the right thing in that situation, but things could have easily gotten worse.
"In this particular case things turned out OK... And, you know, the citizen that stepped in very likely may... Likely saved this gentleman's life," says Yakima Police Captain Rod Light.
Police say the victim is in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
