BURBANK, Wash.-The Army Corps of Engineers Saturday celebrates the 50th anniversary of Ice Harbor Dam.
Then-Vice President Lyndon Johnson dedicated the dam when it opened in 1962. The dam also included three hydropower generators.
The Corps holds a ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday and then will open the dam for tours 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Corps recommends visitors arrive early to board the shuttle bus. Parking is at Ice Harbor Dam on the south shore of the Snake River, off Highway 124 east of Burbank.
