KENNEWICK, Wash. -- This past Saturday, Kamiakin High School had one of the best sports days in school history. The Braves won state championships in baseball, softball and girls track.
Kamiakin celebrated those teams and all spring sports at an awards banquet Tuesday night. Student-athletes, teams and coaches were all honored. Kamiakin says everyone has a hand in the schools' success.
"It takes a lot of skill and a lot of hard work and our people have done that. I really appreciate the efforts that they do and it's been a great Spring, but like you said it's been a great two years at Kamiakin with our success. Also again it takes good parents too," said Athletic Director Don Schumacher, who is retiring after 33 years.
"It takes the right coaches and of course the right athletic director and the people in the Kamiakin staff pick the right coaches. But on top of it all, it's the athletes, it's the students," said Tammy Hutchinson, softball and girls basketball head coach.
