YAKIMA, Wash. -- A brush fire that threatened five homes in the Terrace Heights area Monday was accidental, according to the Yakima County Fire Marshal's Office.
The fire marshal says the brush fire was most likely started by a passing vehicle.
Firefighters from East Valley to Naches responded to three separate fires on the 600 block of Saint Hilaire Road at around 3 p.m. Monday.
They say due to heavy winds in the area, the fire quickly spread and formed into one large fire. It then moved up towards the ridge.
They say more than 200 acres burned, but no homes were damaged in the fire.
It took crews about four hours to get the blaze under control. Firefighters left the scene around 11 p.m. Monday, after crews finished mopping up the area.
No one was hurt.
