Fallen officers honored in ceremony

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Fallen soldiers were honored today by hundreds of people at Columbia Park in Kennewick.

The Fraternal Order of Police organized the ceremony as a part of National Police Week. Attendees heard speeches honoring those who passed in the line of duty. Kennewick Police Chief Ken Honenberg led the ceremony.

"It's one of those things where the reality, people don't like to think about police officers getting killed on duty. Certainly our families don't like to think about that as well, but it is a reality in what we do," said Hohenberg.

Chief Hohenberg said officers across the country are facing an increase in violence. This year two law enforcement officials have died in Washington state.
