YAKIMA, Wash. -- About 100 fourth graders at Adams Elementary School made a field trip to the Yakima Speedway, Thursday afternoon.
Students met with JW Myers, one of the hydroplane drivers who will be in the Tri-Cities later this week.
Myers who grew up in Yakima says he's always excited to meet with students and talk to them about the boats.
"You know, that's our next generation of fans and hopefully, our next generation of racers. I started when I was nine. So getting the kids involved in learning more about our sport, you know, the more the better," Myers said.
Myers will be testing out a new GPS program on the Columbia River on Friday.
