HERMISTON, Ore.
The Hermiston city council has chosen a familiar face as their new chief of police.
Lieutenant Jason Edmiston has been the acting chief since August, when city leaders began looking into Chief Dan Coulombe's management style. During Monday's council meeting, the city manager decided to officially hand over the reigns to Edmiston.
"I'm extremely excited with the opportunity to be in a position to have an impact, primarily in a community where my wife and I choose to live. We don't live here because we have to, we choose to. It's where both of us have grown up so I'm really excited," Edmiston tells NBC Right Now.
Chief Edmiston has been a part of the Hermiston Police force since 1997.
