PORT ANGELES, Wash. The Washington State Patrol says a trooper is okay after chasing a motorcyclist off a steep embankment.

The crash killed the motorcyclist, Bjorn Robert Larsen, 35, of Port Angeles.

WSP says the trooper, Travis Beebe, 37, crawled from the wreckage. Paramedics took him to the hospital with minor injuries.

A WSP spokesman says Beebe had tried to stop the motorcyclist Tuesday evening on Highway 101 for speeding. The spokesman says the biker raced off, reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour.

The chase ended when both the biker and officer failed to make a turn on a local road. The cycle landed 50 feet from the road. The patrol car overturned and was totaled.
