Lourdes Health Network is taking a preventative approach to the obesity epidemic.
The hospital will be offering a body-works program sponsored by Women Helping Women Fund Tri-Cities.
Registered dieticians will work with overweight children and families to help improve eating and exercise habits.
Health experts say obese children usually end up as obese adults with a variety of health issues.
"If we can provide this education and help families change their habits and their behavior before it gets this bad it doesn't just save our health care system money, but it saves our families money and heartache," says Erin Tomlinson of the Lourdes Health Network.
The program is a series of eight classes every tuesday between May 15th and July 3rd. It's free and offered in English and Spanish.
