Mount St. Helens - Mount St. Helens is reopening the Coldwater Ridge center visitor center for the first time since it closed in 2008.
The center has been renovated with more than $700,000 in economic stimulus funds. It will serve as an educational venue for monument staff and outside groups. And the center will have a new name: The Science and Learning Center at Coldwater.
The center was closed after the 2008 season because of dwindling operational funds and a growing list of maintenance issues. It will reopen on May 18, when the monument celebrates the 32nd anniversary of the 1980 volcano eruption.
