Friday's GSL District Baseball action included three intense and emotional games in 4A and 3A District matchups.
In a 4A District battle at Avista Stadium, Gonzaga Prep endured some controversial calls on the way to a 6-4 win over Mead Friday afternoon.
Gonzaga Prep scored two runs in the sixth to take the lead 4-3.
Mead came on in the seventh and on a questionable call scored a run on what appeared to be a foul ball extending the game with a 4-4 tie.
Catcher Zach Bonneau struck a double over the head of the left fielder in the ninth to drive in the go ahead run and a throwing error brought in another run to put the Bullpups ahead for good 6-4.
In District 3A, Mt. Spokane took both games of a double header with University winning the first game 2-1 and the second 4-3.
Mt. Spokane scored an early run in the first inning but lost steam for the next six. University strung together a run in the fifth to tie up the game. Still tied after seven the game went into extra innings. Mt. Spokane sealed the victory with a walk-off in the eighth.
Game two was also a nail-biter as after being tied 1-1 in the third, University scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth and had an opportunity to close the game in the seventh. Mt. Spokane fired back with three runs to take the lead. University couldn't manage a rally in the bottom of the seventh, giving Mt. Spokane a win in game two.
