Illinois Gov. Patrick Quinn will be the guest speaker for an 11 a.m. ceremony May 18, 2012, when The John Marshall Law School Veterans Legal Support Center & Clinic (VLSC) recognizes its executive directors, Brian Clauss and Joseph Butler, for their work on the book, Servicemember and Veterans Rights.
Clauss and Butler assigned experts from the JAG Corps, service academies, other law school veterans clinics, government and private practice to co-author the book’s chapters. Quinn wrote the forward to the book.
The book focuses on legal issues that affect or are a result of military service or veteran status. All proceeds from the book will benefit the work of the VLSC.
Clauss said Servicemember and Veterans Rights was written by leading experts and staff of the VLSC to serve as a handy guide to attorneys and others interested in short synopses on various issues veterans and servicemembers deal with, such as family law, life insurance, VA and GI Bill benefits and state laws related to military service and veteran status. This is the first publication of its kind.
The book will be available for purchase at the reception.
