Author and hobby historian Carmine G. Barba unleashes powerful manifesto in new book
Gouverneur, NY (PRWEB) May 04, 2012
“The country is in deep trouble,” says Carmine G. Barba, author of the new book, I, the Citizen Declare… How the American Citizen Can Take Back His Country (published by Trafford Publishing). “Congress has lost all ability to affect any meaningful change. For it has become inept and is in constant gridlock. I decided that we, the citizens, must take hold of things and to try to do it ourselves.” In I, the Citizen Declare… Barba blueprints this shift of power.
Barba considers himself to be an average citizen. Yet, explains Barba, history has proven that it is often “average citizens” who enact change. In I, the Citizen, Declare … Barba examines how this can happen, cautioning that it will only work if Americans wake up to the power they already possess.
Barba also outlines clear goals. “I advocate that we pass two amendments to the U.S. Constitution,” declares Barba, “one nullifying Congress’ power to vote on legislation and national spending; the other, bestowing this power directly to the American citizenry.”
Through 128 pages of thoughtful analysis, Barba’s guiding theme is crystal clear: “to take the power out of the hands of a dysfunctional Congress and empower the voting citizenry to govern themselves. Congress will continue to initiate, research and debate issues, in open view of the general public, then allow the citizens of America to vote yea or nay on their passage.
