VANCOUVER, Wash. - Vancouver police say an 11-year-old boy riding his bicycle died after colliding with a bus on Saturday.
The boy had been riding against the flow of traffic, and crossed a street when the bus turned, causing the two to collide.
Officials say the impact severed the boy's left arm, and three bystanders, including an off-duty emergency room nurse, assisted the boy at the scene. He was found lying at the rear left side of the bus conscious but not responsive.
A spokesman for the bus company said ten passengers were on board the bus at the time, and that the driver has been placed on administrative leave while the crash is being investigated.
