Pasco, Wash. - Franklin County Commissioners are making changes to their public works department.
Commissioners voted Wednesday to move all accounting operations for the department out of the public works office. Those accountants will now report to the County auditor.
Commissioners also re-defined some job responsibilities in the department. The public works director will now manage the public works department, while the deputy director will be a professional engineer. The changes come after allegations that former accountant Dennis Huston embezzled millions of dollars from the department.
