YAKIMA, Wash.-- A man involved in last year's killing of a Yakima teacher's aide is found guilty of first degree Manslaughter.
Prosecutors say Ivan Izazaga mistakenly identified Yecenia Guerrero's car in the parking lot of a Taco Bell as that of a rival gang member's car.
The jury was not able to convict him on three other, more serious charges including first degree Murder.
"Certainly I was aiming, and arguing, and hoping for a higher charge. But this was a tough case for the jury. The jury did a lot of good work on this case, listened to the evidence," said Gary Hintze, the prosecuting attorney.
Izazaga also received a firearm enhancement charge which adds five years to his sentence.
He's facing somewhere between 11.5-13.5 years behind bars.
