SEATTLE,Wash.- Several schools in the Yakima Valley are among 274 schools receiving honors for their efforts to improve student achievement and graduation rates.
The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education collaborate on The Washington Achievement Awards, presented Wednesday in a ceremony in Everett.
Outlook, Pioneer, and Washington Elementary Schools, and Toppenish High School received honors.
The annual awards recognize schools for overall excellence and special recognition in language, arts, math, and science. Honors also go to schools that show the most improvement in subject areas or in extended graduation rates or by closing the achievement gap between different ethnic or economic groups.
