Cleaning Up After Lightning Storm

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -  Crews across the Columbia Basin are out this morning checking for storm damage from last night. The National Weather Service says the storm brought rain and lightning with wind gusts of up to 50+ miles per hour in some places. Damage reports are still coming in, but there are reports of a roof being ripped off at the Tahitian Inn in Pasco and a tree that fell on a house on W. Grand Ronde Ave. in Kennewick. We also have reports of garbage cans, tree branches and other debris being blown around last night.

The Benton County Fire Chief says one of their crews crashed a truck while leaving the scene of a small brush fire last night in West Richland. He says heavy rains reduced visibility in the area and the driver lost control ending up nose first in a canal. No one was injured.
