The Tri City Americans scored 3 unanswered goals to overcome a 3-2 Spokane lead in the second period to skate to a 5-3 win over the Chiefs Saturday night in game 5 of their Western Conference semi-finals. Tri City now leads the best of 7 series 3 games to 2.

Spokane jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 4:04 into the game when Steve Kuhn scored his 4th goal of the playoffs from Blake Gal. It was Kuhn's second goal in his last 3 games. Tri City evened the contest at one on Patrick Holland's rebound at 13:33 of the first period.

The Chiefs Reid Gow would score his second goal of the playoffs just 41 seconds into the second period from Mike Aviani and Tanner Mort to lift Spokane to a 2-1 lead. Tri City would tie the game at 2 on an Adam Hughesman power play goal at 7:37. The Chiefs regained the lead on Dominick Uher's shorthanded tally from Steve Kuhn at 11:08. It was Uher's second shorthanded goal of the playoffs and second goal in as many games in the series. Tri City would pull back even at 3 on a Mitch Topping goal at 11:53. The Americans then scored the eventual game winner from Justin Hamonic at 16:44 of the second.

Tri City capped the scoring with an empty netter with 1 minute left to give the Americans the first multi goal win of the series. Tri outshot the Chiefs 33-24 in the game as the series now heads back to Spokane for game 6. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm and the puck drop at 7:05pm.
