KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A Kennewick children's shelter held an open house today in light of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The shelter also changed their name from The Safe Harbor Crisis Nursery to the The Safe Harbor Support Center for Children, Youth and Families. People were invited to learn about the shelter and their new additions of teens services and classes for parents. Sue Delucchi, who works at the center, said they hope the name change makes it clearer that they're inviting to many ages.
"We feel this better reflects the programs and we hope that because we haven't changed the Safe Harbor part of our name that the community will embrace this," said Delucchi.
Safe Harbor volunteers will be on the corner of Canal and Edison on Mondays this month advocating for child abuse prevention.
