Tea Party activist Jamie Wheeler to run against Hastings

RICHLAND, Wash.-- Tri-Cities Tea Party activist Jamie Wheeler announced Saturday she is running against incumbent Representative Doc Hastings.

She'll be challenging him for the U.S. House of Representatives, Washington State 4th District seat.

Wheeler is running on the platform that the Fair Tax Bill needs to be passed by Congress. She thinks Hastings isn't standing up for the bill. The bill would replace federal income taxes with a single-rate federal sales tax. She says she's very concerned about the U.S. economy and this bill would help turn things around.

"I know there's a piece of legislation in D.C. that would solve a lot of our economic downfall and that legislation would make April 15th just another spring day," said Wheeler.

Wheeler will run as a Republican. She thinks she can beat Hastings and give a voice to the Tea Party by spreading the message that the Fair Tax Bill is the answer to our mounting debt.

Wheeler said competition is good for politics and even though she doesn't have the background Hastings does, this is about speaking up for citizens and advocating the constitution.
