KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-Cities Fever continue the best start in franchise history. The Fever now sit at 6-0. The latest win came with a game-winning field goal over New Mexico. Fever Kicker Michael Taylor hit a 34-yard field goal to secure the 65-62 win. It was a great comeback. Tri-Cities was down a touchdown with under four minutes left. The Fever say winning close games will help come playoff time.
"I think we're getting good experience you know. This young team is experiencing putting teams away and also battling for four quarters and finding ways to win at the end. I think if you look at our schedule we're going to have to be prepared to do that in several games," head coach Adam Shackleford said.
"It shows that we're tough mentally. When things don't always go right, us being able to win the close games and fighting through adversity especially on the road. I think that shows a lot about our character," quarterback Houston Lillard added.
