KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Today adults learned about issues that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender teens face on a consistent basis.
Vista Youth Center held an eight hour training session for people to become community advocates. They covered topics from suicide prevention to homelessness. The program director, Dusti Thurman, emphasized that education is the way to make positive change.
"People who might not, just might not know all their ideas and thoughts about LGBT, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans people are based on stereotypes. So our new facilitator can go out and educate," Thurman.
They hope breaking down misinformation will help solve some of the issues LGBT youth face here in the Tri-Cities.
