Emergency rooms see increase in slip and fall injuries

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. -- Some emergency rooms in our area are being slammed with injuries from last weeks storm.

Slip and falls have been the common thing hospitals like Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco have been seeing.

They tell me the hospital was slammed with injuries this weekend. And today was no different. By 11 Monday morning, there were already eight accidents connected to the ice, "I've already diagnosed 4 to 5 concussions today which is about a weeks worth during a normal time of year," explains Dr. Todd Lang, facility medical director of emergency medicine at Lourdes.

According to doctors at Lourdes, the majority of injuries appear to bumps and bruises. They report they haven't seen anything more serious like broken bones.
