KENNEWICK Wash. -- Saturday four local high school football teams have state semifinal games. One of those schools is Prosser.
The Mustangs are no stranger to postseason success and are going for their sixth state championship. Standing in their way Saturday at Lampson Stadium is Archbishop Murphy. The Mustangs have won eleven games in a row and look poised to capture the state title. Coach and players say it's all about continuing the tradition of excellence at Prosser.
"Prosser football is just something that these kids grow up wanting to be a part of and they work extremely hard throughout the year and in the Summer to prepare for their shot. You know these seniors have been motivated and determined to get to this level, and we want to take it one more week after that," said Benji Sonnichsen, Prosser Head Coach.
"Obviously we don't talk about that we take it one week at a time. We know Arcbishop Murphy is a very, very good team. We can't look past them but it would mean a lot to us," said Ryan Fassler, Prosser quarterback.
