Seattle, WASH - In the final heat of the Unlimited Lights hydroplane racing in Seattle, Kayleigh Perkins in the UL-72 went upside and airborne. Rescue divers went under the boat and pulled her out of the cockpit. She was brought on top of the boat, then into the rescue boat and brought back to shore.
Kayleigh waved to the cameras from the gurney on the shore as she was being transported.
She was in fifth place at the start of the race, but was running hard. In fact, she'd moved all the way up to second place and was closing in the leader.
Kayleigh is doing OK. After being checked out by medics, she was seen walking back to the pits.
