KENNEWICK, Wash.- Voter registration is becoming a controversial issue, especially in the veteran's community.  

The Veterans' Administration has told workers they cannot assist military vets being treated in veterans' homes in registering to vote.  

Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed doesn't think that's right.

Reed says it's denying those veterans, the men and women who fought to let us keep those voting rights and freedoms, their constitutional right to vote, so he's started a fight against the federal government to get those rights back for Washington's veterans.

"Particularly ironic, because most of them ended up there because of being wounded fighting for freedom and such, so I think it is just very important that they be allowed to participate in our electoral system," the Secretary of State said.

Veteran or not, if you're not registered to vote, come on down to Yoke's Market off Road 68 in Pasco, KNDU will be there until 7:00 Tuesday night.
